WAZEMMES SECONDARY SCHOOL – Lille (59) France

Located in a 4 road intersection in Wazemmes-Lille, the school is a structuring part of the urban space. In Montebello street, the main entrance is under an old private mansion porch. A historical garden was inspired by a drawing totally created invented from the  same period. The wood construction offers an unusual style to erase openings from windows and doors. The guideline was to highlight the old building creating a monolithic but light facade on the boulevard. It opens on the green roofs of the canteen at the opposite side. We wished to enhance the introverted characteristics of the plot by recreating outside views. The school becomes a microcosm with priority given to the life within.  The general organization lays on surroundings buildings such as facades, the streets structure, Montigny Hotel.

Public works contract featuring DE ALZUA+ for architecture and ETR engineering for building construction.
