Guillaume Da Silva Architectures Intérieurs was commissioned under a public contract to fit out the first reception area of the Roubaix town hall, located in the right wing of the château de la mairie, on the Grand-Place. This prestigious space, which bears witness to the prosperity of Roubaix's textile industry in the 19th century, is listed as a historic monument. The aim of the project was to create a reception area accessible and open to the public, integrating user requirements while respecting the existing architecture.
A harmonious dialogue between historic architecture and contemporary furnishings
Guillaume Da Silva's approach was to add sleek contemporary furniture without touching the walls, thus faithfully restoring the interior envelope. Meticulous lighting highlights the period ornaments, establishing a harmonious dialogue between the modern furnishings and the historic setting. The result is an expression of Roubaix's architectural transformation, restoring life and function to this symbolic city landmark.
