Design and project management of a medical analysis laboratory: interior architecture project to enhance patient well-being

Guillaume Da Silva Architecture Intérieur designed the layout and decoration of the Biocentre medical analysis laboratory in Tourcoing.

Thanks to this renovation, Guillaume da Silva has given new life to a laboratory whose obsolete design dates back over 20 years.

A fluid layout

The client's specifications called for the facility to be able to receive several hundred patients a day, with very high peak numbers in the early morning. Guillaume Da Silva therefore imagined a fluid and intuitive operation. The interior architect designed a circulation system based around a central core where the PRM sanitary facilities are located. Patients are greeted by the administrative staff, comfortably seated on a streamlined reception desk, then invited to wait in the waiting room, equipped with comfortable benches and seats. Finally, the biologist accompanies them to one of the 6 sampling rooms.

Breaking with the usual gloom of medical settings through the use of color and curves

For this refurbishment, the Guillaume Da Silva Architecture Intérieur agency decided to move away from the codes used in the medical field, imagining a space where visitors would forget their pathologies.

The combination of Klein blue and mustard yellow, combined with light oak veneers and Ceppo stone on the floor, gives this space an invigorating pep that is appreciated when you have to undergo a medical examination.

The softness of the curved forms, supported by sensitive lighting, gives this design a fluidity and softness that will comfort patients.

Beyond the architectural or decorative gesture, the interior architecture of a medical space must generate calm and well-being: mission accomplished for this project!
